This was the place where Emperor Saga had managed and experienced the fantabulous myths on this island. It brings us closer to the history.
This is Horiki Pass and Roadside Station “PHOENIX”
The gateway to the Nichinan Coast, Horiki Pass offers an amazing view of the sea. Roadside Station has some great restaurants and local products for sale at their observatory deck.
You should try their delicious and healthy soft cream especially mango flavor and their local herb “Ashitaba” Shrimp flavor.
Enjoy the ambiance of the beach and the greenery around this area. Take a deep breath and feel the southern breeze of the city.
This place is surrounded by wave-shaped rock formations that is called “Devil’s Washboard”. You can also find some sub-tropical botanical gardens in this paradise of the south.

They have 1 day unlimited travel pass on public buses for foreign visitors with foreign passports. For you to avail it, just present your passport and travel documents to prove your stay is temporary. If you are foreign students, please present your residence card (study abroad status).
